The Campaign Where Half the Words Were Off Limits

zzLaw Firm, Cork — Third Position for “Best Solicitors in Cork”

Most marketing projects begin with a list of what you are going to say. This one began with a list of what you are not allowed to say.

Solicitors in Ireland advertise under rules set by the Legal Services Regulatory Authority. Personal injury work is restricted further again, with specific phrases about fees simply prohibited.

No guarantees. No claims of superiority. Nothing that could be read as encouraging a claim.

Every marketer’s usual toolkit, gone in the first meeting.

I have come to think that is a gift rather than a handicap. When you cannot shout, you have to be useful instead.

Where the Firm Was

A well-established Cork practice with a genuinely strong local reputation. Clients came through referrals and repeat business, and that had been enough for a long time.

It was becoming less enough.

People buying a first home, handling a parent’s estate, or facing an employment problem now search before they ask anyone, often at the worst moment of a difficult week.

And the firm’s website spoke in the language of the profession rather than the language of the person searching.

Practice areas were listed, not explained. The Google profile did not reflect the work the firm most wanted to grow. Reviews arrived, but nobody replied to them.

Above them in the results sat firms with 214 and 303 reviews, and a sponsored ad above all of it.

What We Did, in Order

1. Starting With Compliance

Everything started with compliance.

A page structure was agreed with the firm, wording was checked against the LSRA regulations and the Law Society’s guidance, and everything was reviewed by a solicitor before going live.

There was also a deliberate decision to build the campaign around conveyancing, wills and probate, family law, and employment law rather than personal injury.

2. Creating One Page Per Practice Area

Then came one page per practice area, written in plain English.

What the process actually involves. How long it usually takes. What happens at the first meeting. What it typically costs, expressed carefully.

The goal was not to make the legal services sound impressive. It was to make them understandable to the person searching for help.

3. Building Practical Legal Guides

Then came the guides, which is where the real work happened.

How conveyancing works in Ireland, step by step.

How long probate takes and why.

The practical difference between separation and divorce.

Nobody reads these for entertainment. They read them at eleven at night, worried, and they remember who explained it.

4. Strengthening the Profile and Reviews

Then came the profile and the reviews.

Practice areas were reflected properly, opening hours were accurate, and a review process was introduced that asks only after a matter closes, never during a live case.

Replies thank the person without ever confirming they were a client.

Where It Landed

The firm now appears in third position in the Cork map results for “best solicitors in Cork,” with a 5.0 rating from 177 reviews, competing directly against the larger review counts above them.

What I Took From It

Regulated industries are the best place to do SEO properly, because the shortcuts are closed off.

You are left with the only thing that reliably works anyway: explaining something difficult more clearly than anyone else in your city.
